Biography:
Ine Achten is a Lecturer-Researcher at PXL Healthcare Innovation, PXL University College, Hasselt, Belgium, where she teaches developmental psychology and comfort care to nursing students. She holds an MSc in Clinical Psychology and leads the PARCOMPAIN project, studying parents' cognitions about pediatric procedural pain and comfort care, in collaboration with Dr. Line Caes (University of Stirling) and Dr. Emma Rheel (Vrije Universiteit Brussel). Her work builds on a PXL research line on pediatric comfort care since 2014. She also organizes Healthcare Labs for Kids, helping preschoolers become familiar with medical materials and procedures, and is a member of the Flemish faculty of PROSA (Procedural Sedation and Analgesia), which advances procedural comfort care, successful medical care free of fear, pain and stress that preserves children's trust in healthcare, by embedding respect, connection and trust between healthcare providers, children and parents.
