Precision Medicine and Genomics in Pediatrics

Tailoring medical care based on genetic profiles and molecular markers is redefining pediatric care, with precision medicine and genomics in pediatrics driving diagnostic and therapeutic advances. Genetic screening for congenital disorders, pharmacogenomics, and whole-exome sequencing are enabling early, often pre-symptomatic interventions. In oncology, targeted therapies based on tumor genomics have improved outcomes while reducing toxicity. Precision approaches are also transforming care in neurology, cardiology, and rare disease management. Ethical challenges related to consent, data privacy, and incidental findings are carefully addressed in pediatric contexts. Precision medicine and genomics in pediatrics offer a promising future, where care is increasingly proactive, predictive, and personalized to each child's unique biological blueprint.
