Pediatric Hepatology

In children, there are several structural, infectious, inborn metabolic abnormalities, and autoimmune liver diseases. Pediatric hepatology is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of children and teenagers suffering from digestive tract and liver disorders. Paediatric hepatologists work in designated centres to provide tertiary and national hepatology services. They diagnose and treat paediatric liver illnesses include acute and chronic liver failure, and they work closely with transplant programmes to care for liver and small bowel transplant recipients.
